When I joined you were allowed to bring a guest and just tell them that you had a guest. Now they have a sign in sheet with lots of personal information (address, email, date of birth, everything a hacker needs) lying out on the front desk in full view for anyone to see.

In this day and age, you can have your identity stolen with just these few pieces of information. Planet Fitness is placing any guest I bring in at risk for identify theft. Additionally, they can use this information to place my guests on marketing lists to be hassled.

Why is it that they can change the rules? Why hasn't anyone at corporate realized this as a potential identify theft issue? 3049b47

Yes, this is new policy nationwide, it started several months ago. This is how the identified guest enters into a temporary agreement with the gym on usage, policy, indemnification, etc. Planet Fitness can refuse use for non-compliance, and has every right to do so. It is a private, usually individually owned franchise/company and has rules and standards for the positive benefit and protection of all members.

And you risk losing your membership when/if caught, you risk being banned for life, you and your guest risk liability coverage by not giving truthful information should something happen, and should something happen,, there is a risk of being unidentified or misidentified. That's just a few things you risk for lack of simple honesty.

I agree. Plus their staff is rude and unprofessional. I would not recommend Planet Fitness to anyone.

Not enuf info for the statement. Unfortunately, everyone has a different take on what is considered rude and unprofessional. Usually the person behind the counter is just trying to do their job at between $8 and $9 an hour and getting yelled at by customers when they are not allowed to fight back is hard, very hard. So pleased, check your attitude at the door. Accept responsibility for YOUR end of messing up. When you do this, it will be easier for them to help you. Policy is policy. If you want them to do something they cannot do, they are not the jerks. Yes, sometimes you may get sarcasm, but what do you expect from them.
