So, I haven't been to Planet Fitness in months because I found the manager at my local PF to be very rude, confrontational, snotty, and unwelcoming. Every time I went in back in March, she would harass me about giving her a new card since mine was going to expire soon.

I told her more than once that I cannot give them the new card number any sooner than my bank can give me the new card.

Fast forward to June (I had not been back to the PF since March, because I was so annoyed with being bothered every time I walked in) I wanted to settle what I thought would be my one month debt, and cancel my membership. Here, I suddenly owed them $88! Despite my card expiring, they kept charging me, PLUS a penalty for not paying.

Annoyed, I said I would pay them half of it today, and that I wanted to cancel my membership so not to occur any more charges. They said I was not allowed to cancel until the balance was completely paid off. I asked "Even though I haven't been in here since March, and don't intend on coming back?" And they said yes. So I said "If I don't pay it all off today, them I'm also going to get charged for July, aren't I?" And they said yes.

THAT got me angry. Why should I have to pay for a month I flat out told them I wouldn't be coming? I asked if there was a way to 'suspend' my membership, so they had my phone # to keep me accountable for paying off the debt, but not charge me any further, and they said no. Complete incompetence and corrupt business practice.

Don't start with them. An offer that seems too good to be true usually is.

Reason of review: Poor customer service.

Monetary Loss: $88.

Planet Fitness Cons: Customer service, That they are theives, Rudeness, Unwilling to help.

Location: Taunton, Massachusetts

But that's what you agreed to. YOU agreed to those terms.

YOU agreed that your membership dues will be paid every month whether you use the club or not.

YOU agreed to the Service Fee that would be charged if the billing became faulty.

YOU also agreed to the cancellation terms!

What's the problem with asking you whether you received your replacement card? That's their job. Any company you frequent would remind you.

It's NOT harassment, it's what they are supposed to do.

Next time don't think, READ.

The agreement is logical and completely open, no hidden charges, simple cancellation policy. NEVER assume you think you know, ASK, ASK, ASK or READ, READ, READ or BOTH!

I'm with you on this anonymous all the way up until PF said they couldn't cancel until the delinquent balance was paid off AND that they would continue to incur charges. Sorry, but cancel anytime means cancel anytime. It's not like cancelling means they don't have to pay back the delinquent balance!

logically, I would agree with you, but that's what the agreement states, that is what was agreed to. A membership with a balance cannot be cancelled.

If youre cancelled then what makes you think they will come back to pay the balance? When I worked at PF we READ OUT LOUD all the fees and even went over all of our policies which people then initialed.

Not our fault that people are incompetent. Agreement is an agreement.
