Planet Fitness - Renewing your contract before the renewal date!
So apparently Planet Fitness requires you to cancel your membership 5 days before your contract ends. I go to cancel my membership 1 day before my renewal date and am told I'm too late and was charged the annual fee.
Obviously the contract that you signed a year ago has this in fine print.
Just an absolute joke how corporate companies work and don't even try to be sympathetic - "it's in the contract" is all I got for a response. It's a gym membership, get over yourself and let people cancel before their renewal date, not 5 days before their renewal date.
Reason of review: Problems with payment.
Monetary Loss: $30.
Preferred solution: Full refund.
Location: Weymouth, Massachusetts

You signed a contract that was very specific about its terms; therefore, it was up to you to abide by those terms and cancel at the correct time, not when you decided. Also, why should they be "sympathetic" to you, when you can't honor a simple agreement. Get over yourself!
PlanetFitness PR, you do a bad job of disguising yourself.
Many gyms require 30 days or more notice. That being said, though, you are Pissed because you don't want to abide the agreement you agreed to when you became a member.
AND NO, THE PRINT IS NOT FINE.
I'm far sighted, and I can read it just fine without my glasses!
Line 1 refers to your monthly dues, how much and when.
Line 2 refers to the cancellation policy, the deadline, how to, when to, and any fees if applicable to the particular membership.
Line 3 refers to the annual fee, the amount and the cancel deadline.
Line 4 refers to the service fee if your dues are not collected on the 17th. The deadline for cancellations is a strict because that is how much time is needed to process the payment through PF and billing. Neither staff, nor management have the ability to stop the billing process. When you come in a day late and a dollar short, of course they understand you.
They understand that you are trying to blame them, the company, the lowly staff, for your stup!dity. You are in Pissed company as the vast majority complaining here complain for the same reasons: they sign an agreement with 4 simple terms, and AFTER they sign it, which legally means MEANS THAT THE TERMS WERE AGREED TO, they decide the terms are not acceptable after the fact and try to weasel out and then go on a tirade and BLAME everyone else except themselves. (BTW, a simple paper calendar, or a calendar app for a smart phone, can help you appear smarter in the future.) Finally, NO ONE held a gun to your head and forced you to AGREE to the terms.
If you did not like the terms, you should not have become a member. So simple, my 10 year old understood.
