The add states a $10 sign up and $10 per month. When you look further into the promotion your get "Plus a $29 price guarantee fee" will be charged for a 12 month contract.

Be aware of what you sign up for and read the contract closely... Its a little disingenuous to slip additional fees in the fine print. To bad they could not be more honest in their presentation.

Have read many complaints about what people thought they were getting and what they found they really had.

Sorry that I have to fill out 100 words to post this comment. PS Just saw an add on the TV that said there is no commitment if you join, but the company website lists it as a 12 month contract.

Which in my view is a commitment,,,, go figure... YOu can not believe what you hear just what you see....

It's called marketing people! The ads get you in the door and the staff takes care of the rest.

It's your decision whether you join or not and whether you listen to the staff explaining the rates. SMH

Planet Fitness offers TWO different contracts. One memberships comes with a 12 month commitment.

The $10 memberships is month to month and can be canceled at anytime as long as you are not past due on your payments. People are right..

you do need to read your contracts and understand what you are singing up for. Planet Fitness is not at fault when they go over and tell you what you are paying for, and then as a member choose to have selective hearing.

The semantics of Membership Fee, Registration Fee, Price Guarantee, Start Up Fee, Minimum Term; in conjunction with an add that fails to aggressively state a true and full disclosure leaves one wondering not market with the entire story.

From Planet Fitness web site "Cancellation Policy and Billing Procedure......# If this membership has a 'minimum' term, and you wish to cancel prematurely, a $58 'Buy Out' fee is required with your cancellation.

# In order to change the billing account for the 17th day of the month the club requires the change by the 10th day of the month.

# Annual Membership Fee of $29.00 will be billed annually, on or shortly following October 1st, to the account on file. In order to cancel the billing of this annual fee, the club requires notification in writing on or before September 25th. ..."

Leads one to think that the term is a month and when the contract is canceled there will be a $58 cancellation fee charged.

Contractually that would be my interpenetration, many would overlook. Ergo, it is important to look at the fine print.

The $29 "price guarantee" fee is something that you pay once a year every october. It is not for a 12month commiment. The $10 a month membership can be cancelled anytime as long as you are up to date with your billing.
