I have been a member at Planet Fitness for less than a year. My brother and I joined when they opened a new branch in my town.

We have never had any issues until the last few months. When I go in the employees typically have a sneer and a bad attitude. Then I was pulled out of work for medical reasons by my doctor and called Planet Fitness to suspend my account temporarily while I was out of work because there's no sense in paying for something I couldn't use. I was told over the phone that everything has been taken care of and when I asked if I needed to come in to sign anything I was told no it was all taken care of and it was all handled.

The next month I was charged for my monthly service I contacted the local branch again and was told that my account was not suspended but that she had now suspended it and that it was all good I again asked if I needed to come in she said nope it was all taken care of. The next month my account was charged again I called back and repeated the situation and was told that my account again was not suspended and that I needed to talk to manager the phone was in handed to the manager and the manager told me that it is not their policy to suspend over the phone and they can only suspend for medical reasons and that I would need to come in to file the paperwork once I explained to him that it was for medical reasons. So the next day I went in and they suspended my account and my brothers for us. I also changed the bank account that was authorized for the monthly payment Since the original bank account was not mine or my brothers and we no longer had access to that account so I gave Planet Fitness a new account to take our monthly payments from.

This month the Planet Fitness charged the old account that they no longer had permission or authorization to use my and my brothers monthly fee and a late fee. I called my financial institution to see if they had received any sort of charge from Planet Fitness because it was authorized and they said no they had not received any charge and because they charge the old account not only was I charged the monthly fees and the late fees, but the account holder was also charged overdraft fees for both of those charges. Meaning that a typically $40 bill has now become a $140 bill and it's not even my account, and they no longer had authorization to charge that account. I went in to manually pay both accounts.

Now when I speak to people at the local branch to Planet Fitness they are absolutely no help and all they do is sneer and judge and are rude and won't even consider correcting their own mistakes financially. And I was still charged a late fee which is aggravating on top of everything else.

Reason of review: Poor customer service.

on what date was the account suspended?. It matters if it was before or after the deadline.
