Yesterday 1/15/2018 I visited one of the newest locations to my area the North Randall- Planet Fitness. I did a 1 hour work out on the treadmill and proceeded to the weight section.

After working on 2 machines the manager- Tyler came up to me and advised me that I am not allowed to have my backpack or gallon water jug while exercising. I advised him that I had been there for over an hour working out and I've had my bag and jug the entire time and no one had said anything. I also advised him that I have worked out at 2 other locations of Planet Fitness with my bag and jug and there were never any issues. He told me that is their rule- I have to leave my bag in the locker and a use a smaller water bottle.

I advised him that I have had my things stolen out of a gym locker before so I am not comfortable leaving my wallet in the locker, that why I carry my bag with me. He also proceeded to tell me that the water bottle is considered to be intimidating that's why it is not allowed. I asked him to show me the rules that state the information about the backpack and the water jug. He said that rules were not written, but they are PF's spoken rules and they must be followed.

I again advised him that I wasn't informed of these rules when I joined. He stated when you sign up for a membership you are agreeing to all PF rules whether written or spoken. He said that if they decided that pink shirts weren't allowed I would have to either change my shirt or not work out at PF. I also told him that I carry a few personal workout tools in my bag such as weight lighting gloves, a jump rope, sweat belt and resistance bands.

He said that no outside equipment is allowed and jump roping isn't allowed at PF. HE said that is considered intimidation and that others may feel offended or less than if they see me jumping rope and they aren't able to jump rope. I asked him if he realized how ridiculous that he sounded, he went on to say it may sound ridiculous but that is the rule. I posed the question, what If someone there is running fast on the treadmill and I feel less than because I can't do the same, will that person be reprimanded and of course he didn't have a response.

I have found PF to be one of the most judgmental places and discriminating places that I have ever been to in my life. I have never experienced anything like this in my life at a fitness club.

I would never refer anyone to go there again. I will be making bad reviews on every site that I can find to let everyone know how they treat paying customers.

Reason of review: Poor customer service.

Preferred solution: Let the company propose a solution.

Location: North Randall, OH 44128, USA

Thank you for sharing your experience. People need to know before they waste their money like I did... that $20 fee I used for a whole day and a half...

I had almost identical story happen to me tonight. I was interrupted 3 times in the 20 minutes I was there and told to remove my small gym bag.

Obviously I had questions for which I am blamed to be disruptive and was told to cancel my membership if I am not happy with their location. I never got response to why I am being disruptive and was told to leave immediately.

I tried to confirm the managerโ€™s name off her name tag, she was hiding it from me, was screaming and cursed me out at the end. Her exact words: โ€œGet the *** out of here because if you donโ€™t I will take you out myself and *** you upโ€.
